MUSICAL STORYTIMES

AN INTERACTIVE APPROACH TO STORY TELLING

Created by Peter Menta, MLS

FIRST PLACE WINNER OF THE 2004 BCALA-WILEY BLACK BOOKS GALORE CONTEST FOR THE MOST CREATIVE CHILDREN’S PROGRAM

Well-know area roots musician and children's librarian Peter Menta presents Musical Story Times, an interactive approach to storytelling. Using well-known folk and blues melodies, Menta not only tells traditional stories but also involves audiences with original songs interspersed with the narration that both comment on and enhance the story or book. Menta can design a story time around a particular theme and create original music to accompany the story. He sings and plays guitar, harmonica, and homemade instruments, and brings those instruments for children to play and sing with while the story unfolds. (Preschool-grade 4, young adults) Fees start at $200 + travel. Also available for workshops and residencies.
